FROM THE WILDERNESS” |

A wilderness is by no means limited to the land or outer space or deep seas. A wilderness is any thing, thought, or being that is unknown, misunderstood, or very different or near impossible to understand. In my life I have traveled through many of these un-chartered wildernesses, understanding some, conquering some, with few victories, and many defeats. In the wilderness of Mother Earth, there have been many victories - as the voice of Her, and Her children of the wild. And I understand. As the old, old saying goes “YOU CAN ONLY CLIMB THE MOUNTAIN - IF THE MOUNTAIN … LETS YOU”. You must listen to its voice in the wind, in the grass, on wings and almost silent feet. The waters running down the slopes…. all have a voice. Even the snow speaks loudly to those who will just listen. We are all born with the ability to hear these voices of our kin. But through the years of growing up…most lose this hearing…growing callous and hard to these precious voices. Only hearing the voice from within ourselves that wants and desires only self-gratification to our own pleasures. Very few can hear the voice of the sunrise. The owl, going home to roost for the day. The morning breeze, brushing, across your cheek. The ever so gentle sound, of each new set of wings, flying off for a day of hunting and food gathering. Some will cease before the day is done. Some will become food for others. Some will just simply die, but many will bring new life and voice to the family of Mother Earth. So many are not heard or understood - and I count myself, one voice in that wilderness - and not heard by my fellow human beings. Granted…most all of the earth’s creature’s great and small have a shorter life span then do we humans, but they need not clothing to buy nor houses nor electricity nor cars nor buses to carry them from place to place. Only the ones being held captive by the “Superior” human race have daily misery through out their lives. Mother Earth gives all of them food, shelter, rainment, and love…Total acceptance one to another to exist in the world of this wilderness. They all accept the truth in life and in death, in feast or in famine, as an everyday fact of life. They do not worry about it or wish upon a star, or pray to an unknown God. They rely on what Mother Earth bestows with each new dawn or dusk. No great mystery, involved… No great hidden treasures of wisdom. It is there for all to hear, and understand, if we just listen and hear HER voice from the wilderness. I hear and understand Her voice, and all the voices of Her children…. And they understand mine. I have accepted life and death as it is. Mother Earth has many times given me, food, clothing, shelter, love and a purpose for going on. She has cradled me in her arms with compassion, understanding and wisdom, along with strife and pain…all things to keep the Spirit, adjusted to the pure truth. She gives us pain so that we will be aware of a problem that needs to be fixed - and today, humans consume more pain relievers than the drops of water from the rains, as the nature of humans is to cover up the problem, rather then fix it. She gives us comfort so that we can have peace in our lives, but how many see…the comfort of the Sun or Moon or Stars?????? The sounds, of our brothers and sisters among the grass, trees, sky or water?????? VERY FEW!!!!!!! - and - OH!!! - So many sounds not heard through the ears …but through the SPIRIT!!! |
